Safety measures regarding Corona virus (last updated June 1st)
This article was created on March 14th, 2020 and will be regularly updated.
With the number of infected people rising exponentially, we need to work together to ensure the health system is capable of caring for all patients. Thus, any personal contact among people should be limited to a minimum. The well-informed reader may now argue that young adults are not typically at risk to develop severe forms of the infection. While that is true, we don't know who might be at risk because of pre-existing conditions such as chronical respiratory diseases or anything alike. Therefore, we ask everyone to please follow the official instructions given by the WHO and the RKI.
As your student council, we decided to take the following steps to limit the outbreak:
As of now, there won't be any more AWDs (presence hours) until the start of the new semester. If you want to talk about something, you can always write an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and arrange a meeting via Zoom, BBB oder phone. Find more information on the AWD page.
E-mails will still be answered within as little time as possible. Instead of dropping into our office, we kindly ask you to write an e-mail to email@example.com with any question or issue you would normally bring up during the presence hours. Please beware that we don't have any more information on how the mathematical departments handle the situation than you do, which means that we won't be able to answer questions like "When will my exam take place?". You will find any official information in e-mails sent out by the departments in the coming days.
The recreation room is closed since March 17th 2020.
FSR- and FSV-meetings will not be open to the public till the start of the new semester. Until the start of the next semester, FSR and FSV meetings will be held via Discord, Zoom or Big Blue Button to avoid physical contact. If you would like to attend, please write an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. As always, protocols may be found online.
It's hard to take part in online teaching without a computer. Therefore, the student council has arranged a Computer Rental for Maths students. You can find further information here.
- Usually, you can find job ads and other information on our notice boards – due to Corona we can't post things there and if we did, you wouldn't be able to get into the annex to read them. However, people are still sending things to us that we want to share with you. From now on (June 17th) you can find them on this page.
Regarding events: We expect you to follow all of the official instructions regarding health and therefore, and we will do the same. For the forseeable future all our events will be held online. Make sure to check our website once in a while or click here to subscribe to our Newsletter. Just enter your e-mail address and confirm your subscription by clicking on the link that will be sent to you. Additionally, the event team announced some events for the winter term here.
We are also trying to develop alternatives for you: Every now and then there will be online events. There is also a Discord server especially for the Master students – you can join via this link. We have also set up the Discord server 'Nebengebäude', where you can meet to play. To join the server, send an e-mail to email@example.com and you will receive the access link.
