Virtual Christmas Party

Ho ho ho!

Christmas and so the annual Math Christmas Party are coming, however this December not to the Math Institute but to your own dorm instead. That's because it will take place online via Zoom. Take a red-green pencil and highlight Tuesday, 21.12., 6 c.t., in your calendar.

Traditionally (i.e. in all years before 2020) a big (compared to the MI smaller) decorated Christmas tree is standing in front of the math center, you smell mulled wine from about 2 p.m. on the day of the event in the annex, inside hard-working helpers peel potatoes and collect them in large (for the Mensa small) pots. From 6 pm students, staff and professors float into the upper floor of Endenicher Allee 60, put on colorful Christmas hats and drink their first mulled wine (of many to come). One of the highlights of the celebration has always been the mixed program starting at 7 pm in the Lipschitzsaal. Afterwards everyone could look forward to a home-made potato stew. Happily it went on with more mulled wine, cookies and relaxed conversations, where often students and professors started to chat. Then, at 10 pm, everyone came together to sing in the great hall. In addition to classic Christmas carols like "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", long-running favorites like "Oh VeKtorraum" or "Morgen Erstis wird's was geben" were enjoyed.

Of course, we can't come close to a Christmas party in presence, but we do our best! And this is where you come in:
